I'm Aware

Sharing light through stories, anecdotes, quotes, and ideas

Hi, I’m Brandon.

First things first, I need to ask you: Do you remember signing up for this newsletter?

I’ve had a rush of new subscribers of late, including your email. But I do not promote my periodic newsletter. It’s important to me that each person personally opted in — that it wasn’t something more nefarious going on for whatever reason. If you did not sign up, please unsubscribe right now at the bottom of this email. I apologize if that’s the case.

You could have found me through a recommendation from another email newsletter you subscribed to that is powered by ConvertKit. That happens. Or you could have found me via https://brandonhull.com. I’m happy to have you, if you intended to subscribe.

If you’re new here, I wrote a short book. How to Plan a Week That Matters. It’s a counter-argument to the litany of productivity books out there telling you how to squeeze more into your weeks. It’s not a true how-to. It’s a thank you letter to mentors who have shown how a life well-lived is a life focused on serving others in big and small ways.

Who is the book for?

It’s a manifesto on rethinking your priorities. Rethinking how you spend your time. It nudges you to take time to make time to be there for others as your first order of business each week. Either impromptu or by plotting the week out with them in mind. Then, you turn to mapping out your important goals and projects, your more urgent action items.

So if you are struggling to find meaning in your days and weeks, the book is for you. If you are overwhelmed with feeling disconnected from people, the book is for you. If you feel there is more the world needs from you, the book is for you.

It’s currently only available to Kindle readers, but by the month of May a beautiful hardback edition will make its way to Amazon.

The purpose of this newsletter is to share light — positivity through short stories, anecdotes, quotes, and ideas that will expand your thinking. My hope is that readers come away more thoughtful about the contribution they make to the world. We aren’t here to consume. We’re to create, whatever that means to you with your talents and traits.

I try to send something out once per month. That is my goal for 2026. Thanks for joining me on the journey.

Here’s one to ponder for January

I recently stumbled upon the story of Ales Bleha, a one-time music producer who said goodbye to everything the world tells us we need to go live in a cave. His life today is simple. Too simple for 99% of us. But there is wisdom in the choices Ales has made. He says this:

If you live in the typical society, from the beginning to the end of your life you are under the attack of brainwashing which tells you that you need more, you need more...and you never have enough. Because everything you need is outside of you. But you need to understand that the world is inside of you.

Here’s a link to the 17-minute short about Ales’s past and present life. Be aware that there is language.

The world is inside of you is such a powerful idea to ponder. What does it mean to you?
